So its official, mankind is responsible for the warming of the earths climate. At least that's what the scientists are saying. For the sake of the next generations I believe we cannot afford to ignore we might be responsible and must act, but i have severe doubts about the validity of what the scientists are now saying is fact. Just look at what is passing for scientific fact regarding passive smoking, it's complete bullshit. Also these scientists are ignoring facts like for instance during the height of the Roman empire grapes were being grown as far north as Scotland, suggesting these rises in the earths temperature come and go in cycles without intervention from man. One thing for sure, global warming is now going to be used as another instrument to strike fear into the general populace and force behavioral change !

I usen't be like this, but everytime i hear sceintists claming they have sceintific proof on something i cringe as i can no longer believe them. The only wonder is that they haven't blamed smokers for chaniging the atmosphere and climate

What we have being doing to the environment is horrendous and we need to take action for the sake of future generations. I do understand how people are skeptical about scientific evidence. Scientists have themselves to blame for this, but in our souls we know it has not been good polluting the atmosphere and destroying the Eco system.

Just watched a program called 'The Great Global Warming Swindle' om C4. The politicised junk science surrounding global warming is every bit as bad as with passive smoking. As with passive smoking the so called scientist and newly self proclaimed experts are ignoring their own evidence which in this instance suggests humans are not responsible for climate change. The real scientific evidence shows rises in CO2 occur when the earths temperature increases and not the other way around. The cause of all this is the sun and climate change has occurred naturally in both the recent and distant history of Earth regardless of human behavior.
Of course this is too humbling for our scientist to take on board and there is no political millage in saying we should ban the sun or cap the volcano's which emit more green house gases into the atmosphere in a week than mankind ever managed to do in decades.
Soon we'll see light bulbs banned and so called carbon taxes imposed on all sorts of things accompanied by it's all for our own good and for the children's future bullshit. It was only two decades ago that these scientist were telling us we were on the verge of a new Ice age !

I saw some of this program and it was an eye opener. Sounds very similar towhat is going on in the passive smoking debate. Complete whitewash

I have now changed my mind on all this. I used to accept the conventional thought that we were bringing about all the climate change by our actions, in particular the burning of fossil fuels. Now I see it as just another excuse by the manipulators to force behavioral change and social engineering on the masses.

I would consider myself an environmentalist and as such would be supportive of measures to reduce carbon emissions. To date I've accepted the argument that unless we take drastic measures now future generations will suffer. However I've began looking at the evidence supporting my beliefs a bit closer and am becoming increasingly uneasy as to it's so called scientific validity.

Under the Banner of Death of our Planet it is quite simply carte blanche for governments to Tax, Tax Tax as much as they like. I deliberatley cut my carbon footprint last year - I didnt fly to America , I flew to Spain, less than half the distance, the government must be proud of me, and got excellent deals on my backy. About £1.75 for 50g of Golden Virginia (normally about £10 here)

When it comes to it it's all about tax if you ask me. Governments have screwed us on everything else and are now looking at air travel as another lucrative area for them to impose taxes.

Do these phrases sound familiar?
"overwhelming scientific evidence"
"the matter is beyond dispute"
"we must radically change our behaviour"
"for your/our own protection"
The polar ice caps on Mars are shrinking as well. Presumably as a result of the entire population there playing fast and loose with carbon.

Spot on goldflake, i did indeed notice those familiar phrases. As for the polar icecaps on mars melting, could it have something to do with the natural cycle of the sun ? No currency in that theory as it doesn't leave any scope for bans, taxes and social engineering by our want to be masters

I was just wondering if the weather is the same in Ireland at the moment as it is here in the UK. Apparently we are having the warmest April weather for 300 years! April is usually mildish but wet, lots of those April Showers. The last couple of weeks its been sunny and warm, very Mediterranean - Bring it on!!
