This is happening all over ireland and i wish the best of luck to those running them. Thank god somebody is willing to provide facilities for decent people to gather and socialise over some smokes and drinks.

This guy has the right idea!! I hope every pub goes OUT of BUSINESS in Ireland while everyone goes to a local SHEBEEN instead!

i see where the local council are getting heavy with the shebeen in limerick.....they have said he hasnt got planning permission are are going to try force the guy to knock the place down

Yes Emma, the state has put the jackboot in, but the guy is not taking it lying down and not only continues his operation, but has extended it to include the serving of food.

Just how petty can the fascists get. The council are demanding the premises attached to the house where the shebeen is located be knocked as it doesn't have planning permission. Yet, they plan to knock the whole area anyway in a regeneration scheme. Long live the shebeen.

yes with the rampant crime problems limerick has you would think the council would have better things to do than harrass some people smoking and drinking in their own home..........just goes to show how fanatical smoke haters are

Yes emma, you would think they would have better things to do especially in limerick with the rampant crime epidemic there, but alas no. Only last friday the cops yet again raided the shebeen. At the same time the cops were busying themselves with some people enjoying some drinks and cigarettes a mob was running loose at the regeneration offices threatening to burn the place down and kill the people working there. What an asshole of a country.
